Air Quality Today, by State and City
Today's EPA air quality category for every tracked US city, updated daily.
Pollen tells you half the story of what's in the air. The other half is pollution: ozone on hot afternoons, dust on windy days, and wildfire smoke that can turn a clear August sky gray. Pick your state below to see today's readings for its cities, then click any city for the pollutants behind the number and what they mean for your plans.

The EPA scale at a glance
Air quality and pollen are two different numbers
The AQI tracks pollution only. Pollen runs on its own five-step scale, from None to Very High, with its own daily rhythm — tree pollen peaks in spring, grass in early summer, ragweed from August to first frost. If your eyes itch while the air reads clean, pollen is the likely culprit.
